DriveTag Terms of Service

Last updated: May 23, 2026

These terms govern your use of the DriveTag Chrome extension and any related services we offer (collectively, "DriveTag" or "the service"). By installing DriveTag or signing in, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

The service is provided by Tosch Roy, sole proprietor ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at toschroy@gmail.com for any question about these terms.

1. What DriveTag does

DriveTag is a Chrome extension that lets you tag files in Google Drive and search across them by tag. Tags are stored inside Drive itself (as appProperties on the file), and your saved-tag library and subscription state are stored in our backend.

DriveTag requires a Google account and that you grant the permissions described in the consent screen at sign-in. If you withdraw any of those permissions, parts of the service will stop working.

2. Your account

You need a Google account to use DriveTag. By signing in, you tell us that:

You can delete your account at any time by emailing us; we'll process the deletion within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for details on what's deleted and what's retained.

3. Acceptable use

When using DriveTag, please don't:

We may suspend or terminate your account if we have a reasonable belief you've violated these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity.

4. Your content

You retain all rights to the files in your Google Drive and to the tags you apply. We don't claim ownership of any of it.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content (file metadata, saved tags, subscription information) solely to operate DriveTag and provide the features you've signed up for. This license ends when you delete your account, except where we're required by law to retain certain records (see the Privacy Policy).

5. Subscriptions and payments

DriveTag has a free tier and one or more paid tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed through LemonSqueezy on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on what you select). LemonSqueezy handles all card processing; we never see or store your card details.

Pricing

Current pricing is shown at checkout. We may change pricing for future billing periods with notice — your current period stays at the price you agreed to.

Renewals

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before renewal. You can cancel from the LemonSqueezy customer portal (link provided in your purchase confirmation email).

Refunds

We offer a refund within 14 days of your initial purchase if DriveTag isn't a good fit. After that initial window, we generally don't refund unused portions of a billing period, but if you have a special circumstance (billing error, lengthy outage, etc.), email us and we'll work it out.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, we'll keep your subscription active in a grace period while LemonSqueezy retries. If it ultimately fails, your account will drop to the free tier and any team features will become unavailable.

Taxes

Prices shown do not include sales tax, VAT, GST, or similar. LemonSqueezy may collect and remit these on our behalf depending on your jurisdiction.

6. Free tier

We offer a free tier with feature limits (currently a limit on the number of tagged files). We may change those limits over time. We may also stop offering the free tier with reasonable notice. If we do, you'll be able to keep using DriveTag at a paid tier or export your data.

7. Service availability

We work to keep DriveTag available and working, but we don't promise it's bug-free or always online. We may take parts of the service down for maintenance or due to issues at our hosting providers (Google, Supabase, LemonSqueezy). We aim to give notice for planned maintenance.

We may add, change, or remove features. If we remove a paid feature you specifically relied on, we'll either offer a refund or a comparable alternative.

8. Intellectual property

DriveTag, its name, logos, source code (where not open-sourced), documentation, and design are owned by Tosch Roy. These terms don't grant you any rights to that intellectual property except the right to use the service as intended.

You may not copy, modify, sublicense, sell, or create derivative works of the DriveTag extension or website except where expressly permitted (for example, third-party libraries used in the extension are subject to their own licenses; you can find them in the dist bundle's LICENSE notice).

9. Third-party services

DriveTag depends on third-party services to function — at minimum, Google Drive and our hosting providers. Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms. We don't control them and aren't responsible for outages, policy changes, or other issues that originate at those providers.

10. Disclaimers

DriveTag is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data loss won't occur.

Always keep your own backups of important data. We're a thin layer over your Drive, so the canonical copy of your files lives in Google Drive — but you're responsible for ensuring you have access to your own data.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these terms or DriveTag is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) $50 USD.

We're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Tosch Roy from and against any third-party claim arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of someone else's rights, including reasonable attorneys' fees.

13. Termination

You can stop using DriveTag at any time by uninstalling the extension and (if you signed in) requesting account deletion via email.

We can suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you've violated these terms, if required by law, if we discontinue the service, or if continued service poses a security or legal risk to us or other users. We'll give notice when reasonable. On termination, sections 4, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 15 survive.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Deschutes County, Oregon, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

If you're a consumer outside the United States, this section doesn't override mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, when the change is significant, notify you via email or an in-app notice before it takes effect. Continued use of DriveTag after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you don't accept the changes, please stop using DriveTag and request deletion of your account.
